Visiting the Wolves

And so, the duo consisting of the Dragon Demon Shinryuu and the Wolf Demon Uzochiko, trekked through the mountains, heading towards the Den of the Wolf Demon Tribe. The walk was quite peaceful, nothing has disturbed them as of yet, not even a whisper of a Wolf Demon nearby. Well, it was still night, perhaps they were sleeping.

Shinryuu walked along with his companion, wondering how much further were they going to go. It was safe to say that he's never been in the mountains and so, he wasn't able to orientate himself. Besides the tribes that lived around the mountains were said to be dangerous, all of them. He wasn't by any means weak, but not stupid enough to risk getting killed either.

''Have you ever tried bringing anyone with you?''

He asked, feeling curious. It'd be good to know if something like that already happened once.

And so, the semi-long trek towards the mountains and up was peaceful. Not a stir in the serene nature, which was very rare at night. Usually, demons lurked and hunted for others demons or humans to eat, they had to eat too. Luckily, that did not happen, they were not attacked or ambushed in the shady forest. On the way, he even picked some fruits for their tribe to eat. Why? Why not meat? because he didn't really like the thought of the demons or wolves attacking villages, and often wrestled his father to the ground to stop him from making the command. It was just him.

Now, treading up the mountain, huh? That was even serene, what the hell as going on? It was slightly too peaceful for him, because he was used to all hell breaking loose at night, or craziness going on, or even those so called 'Bird demon', which their tribe is in conflict with, lurking around like asses. But, it was pretty good having peace fro once around him, even if it was a tad awkward.

The Ryuu Yokai must be afraid that the other wolf demons will attack him or murder him, maybe even eat him, because he is now wondering if Uzochiko had ever lead a friend towards the den, to his home. Come to think of it, he hasn't. And he never tried it, he doesn't make friends usually. That's why.

"Not really, I haven't... But I wont' let them do anything to you though, if they do, like I said before, a tail will be down their throat and they'll be emasculated. Maybe their sleeping right now, cause they haven't caught my scent yet and came to me to greet me, even if we are nocturnal we get our rest sometimes. I bet some of the wolves are guarding anyway."

Oh, how he hoped that they wouldn't turn against his friend, that's the last thing he needed. Was to break up a pointless and worthless conflict.

It wouldn't be long before the duo would be right near the peak of a mountain, and the first thing they'd come to was a rather... shallow... River, though the water current was pretty fast, not enough to drag anyone of the wolf demons nor wolves around though. Plus, it was shallow cause it ran off the edge of a cliff, but the height between the cliff and any kind of ground or other platform of mountain below was short, so it created a small waterfall. But this wasn't the one more closer to the heart of the territory. Even there, few wolves greeted him and welcomed him back, while a few growled towards the newcomer, the sound emitting from their throat. This was because he was in their territory, plus so close to their active leader. But after a look from Uzochiko and a waving hand motion, they tried to jar up how the felt and accept him.

Well, it was good to know that he was going to be safe. He wasn't that much afraid, but still there would be many of Wolf Demons, so he wouldn't probably have a chance against them if they chose to attack him. He knew that most of them didn't like visitors. And definitely not demons of different type.

Yay, Shinryuu could hear the sound of rushing water, which meant there was a river nearby. Man, he didn't like water and swimming. He hoped they wouldn't have to go across. That'd suck big. Obviously, they came to the river after a little while. Even though he greatly disliked it, he had to admit that the small waterfall was pretty, but he wouldn't dare to go closer to it.

Thankfully, he got dictracted from his negative thought about water by a few wolves. Probably friends of Wolf Demons, as they seemed to be welcoming Uzochiko back. And apparently, they didn't like him much, but he couldn't argue. It was natural that they would be wary of someone they don't know. He wasn't going to think bad of them for that.

He laughed and nodded gently, stroking the head of one of the wolves in a gentle and motherly manner, as if they were his children. He adored the wolves of the den very much and would never let one of them die in front of him, he'll give anything to protect them.

"They are the wolves of the den... Ones of the tens of hundreds, they are loyal to the tribe, we are one with them as they are one with us."

He looked towards the shallow river, spotting some of the guard wolves on night guard drinking their share of water. The wolves on night shift have to stay up all night, protecting the entrance to the heart of the territory. They aren't dumb, they are intelligent and skilled in battle. Every night there is guards on night shift, wolves or one of the demons, because some foreigner could just come in and kill them while they lay sleeping.

"Let's continue, the cavern should be just ahead. Man, how are they not noticing my scent yet? They must be in a pretty deep sleep... Fools."

With that, he began to tread further down in the direction of which the river lead to. The river ran right to the heart of the Wolf demon Tribe, which was a large cavern, which was hidden behind a large waterfall, larger than the last one. Despite this, the cave wasn't damp, it was dry and intact. This was a lovely place to have the hideout due to the waterfall covering the entire entrance. A healthy mist was emitted from the crashing at the bottom of the waterfall as well. The only way to get behind the waterfall was a narrow path that fit two-three people side by side that lead up behind the waterfall, to the entrance.

Upon reaching the second waterfall, which was the one that hid the entrance, he made an introduction.

"Welcome to the Den of the Wolf Demon Tribe, a kin that shall last many generations."

Here, many wolf demons like Uzochiko, they lurked the premises even at this time in case the front guard was broke through. Finally, they caught his scent. They caught Uzochiko's scent at last and they looked towards him.

"Heeey!"

"Uzo-san!"

"Where have you been? Aru-san fell asleep worried about you."

Suddenly, they spotted the figure accompanying him. His appearance... was strange. He wasn't a wolf demon. Nor was he human! He had a scaly tail and wings! Why would he have some foreign demon with him? Especially to their tribe! That's letting go of intel and everything, they didn't know if the demon was hostile or not. Was he captured by the child? Most likely not, he's to young! Or maybe he's.... Lunch.

"... Hey, who the hell is that?!"

" A foreign demon?! Is he a bird demon in disguise?!

"Hey, Uzo-san, you brought lunch huh? I call dibs on the femur!"

"If that's the case, I want the throat!"

He was happy everyone greeted him back, but when it came to noticing the Ryuu Demon, that's where things looked bad. At first, they thought he was an intruder, or that he was a hostile or something like that. Maybe captured. It seems they were beginning to become aggressive, as they were now thinking he is food, they are thinking that he brought him to eat. This was becoming bad, but no matter. They then started step closer surrounding the duo in curiosity, with aggressive looks as if about to attack. Though, a growl and snarl was heard from the young boy.

"Back off...! This one's mine, and I'll slaughter every one of your tails, shove them down your throat, emasculate you AND hang you off the cliff if any of you try to take a bite."

The aggressive words he spoke, how he spoke them, this may even shock the Ryuu demon. after hearing this, most of them backed away while some stood there in shock and gulped, nodding and not saying nothing more. Though, standing at the path that lead up behind the waterfall was Uzochiko's right hand man, Miizotsu. He had heard every single thing, so he wasn't going to bother intervening with questions, he was happy that Uzochiko was back though. So, he'll treat the newcomer with respect since he would very much love to keep his tail, and his... Well... Let's not go there.

"Heeeeey! Uzo-san!"

The male yelled with a polite wave.

Well, this and that, Shinryuu followed his friend further along the river. As they walked they passed more of the wolves, as they drank the river's water. It appeared that they were guarding the parts of the land there, or doing somethin remotely similar to guarding. He couldn't tell exactly. But they soon vanished from sight as they neared the waterfall. Shinryuu frowned, he didn't like the idea of going closer to that water monstrosity. For him, a waterfall was only good enough to be watched, but not examined closely. He didn't know why he disliked water so much, he just did. He let out a breath ater realizing that they weren't going through it, just around it, which thankfully meant that he wouldn't have to touch the water.

So, they went around the two waterfalls, finally reaching their destination. He had to admit that there was a considerable amount of wolf demons lurking around, and it didn't look like they were sleeping. They were much awake, actually. And they quickly noticed their arrival, greeting Uzochiko as if he wasn't home for years. Though he didn't enjoy it, when they called him lunch and such. He stayed quiet though, not wanting to create a conflict. It appeared that Uzochiko had it in control afterall, as they backed off after he snapped at them. Honestly, he didn't expect that, but as a leader he probably had to be able to command the others.

One of them apparently wasn't bothered by the exchange, as he came happily greeting Uzochiko, as if nothing happened a few seconds ago. Shinryuu frowned slightly, but didn't say anything, just stared at the newcomer, wondering what was this all about.

Uzochiko looked in the direction of the waving male, whom be addressing him happily, and with a tad bit of excitement. Soon after observing the figure he realized it was Miizotsu. Ah, yes, Miizotsu. He was the more loyal and stronger one out of both his left and right hand man, when someone would pick a fight with Uzochiko or would say something offensive, he'd either step in and stop it or teach the figure a lesson, physically. With a half smile, he waved back politely and proceeded further into the very widely spaced cavern. If one would notice, there was actually different chambers. Recently developed by Uzo, his father, his mother, and the helpers. They thought they needed WAY more space, and while making this thought become fruition, they though everyone needed privacy.... partially.

Miizotsu ran to him quickly, with a grin on his face. He always had a grin for some reason, a childish grin. It was almost funny, seems like the expression never grew up, eh? Anyway, as he reached Uzochiko he paused and crossed his arms before speaking.

"Hey... You have a friend? Looks like he's of a different kin, not that I mind. But the others might not accept, might even attack or start a conflict with him. Your father might not do that, but he'll probably scold you harshly. You're not aloud to do this without permission from your father, I think Uzo-san. This is revealing intel to other demons, and that's a bad thing. We already have the bird demons to deal with."

Ah, yes, he knew Miizotsu would say something, It was just like him. But of course, he wouldn't mind. His right and left hand man often didn't mind, not very much did they mind on his decisions. Hopefully, he wouldn't say something about his attire, because he'd have to go through the torture of trying to avoid them from putting the signature wolf demon clothing on him. He didn't like wearing it, it's like... like... He just couldn't describe why he didn't like it much. Yes, his father, he knows he may scold him. But not tonight, so hooray. He was asleep, hehe. But others might, though that's where Miizotsu comes in to kick some ass. If his friend was going to spend the night, he'll have to have him sleep in his private chamber. that's the safest place for him, he may even have Miizotsu guard the entrance and stall his father till Uzochiko wakes up, that way nothing or no one would end up killing the Ryu demon in his sleep.

Looking around, many have fell asleep, but over half of the tribe was still awake. Nocturnal bastards, he may have some trouble after all. Luckily, the room was so large, and with some pillar to support the roof so it wouldn't collapse on their faces, so most wouldn't take notice of them right away.

"Yes, he's my friend. His name is Shinryuu, I believe he is a Dragon Demon. He's nice and friendly, not very hostile if I may mention... I know other may do this, which is why I need you to keep an eye on the both of us. He's spending the night and I expect everyone to show him the same respect that I am given. Father may scold me, but I'll have to vouch for Shinryuu."

"Where will he sleep? And he most likely won't want to hear it, Uzo-san..."

"Father has no choice, I'm the leader, am I not?"

"Yes, you are... In that case..."

He finally noticed the huge difference in Uzochiko's attire, which disrespects the tribe's clothing. As the leader he MUST wear the clothing dammit! Why won't he wear it?! They better get it on him, or big daddy will beat their asses. They are to get the clothing on Uzochiko one way or another, because he needs it.

"Shuzukoooo~ C'mere wherever you are!"

He yelled with a smirk on his face as he looked around, scanning the den. Oh jesus, oooooh no. This's bad. He must have noticed, Uzochiko knows just what this means. That certain smirk, that tone of voice he's using. They noticed the faulty in his current choice of clothing. Jeez, what will he do now? He can't just leave his friend here, that'll give the damn demons a chance to maul him, so he has to stay. What now?!

Shuzuko, huh... Yes, yes, Shuzuko was his left hand man. A male in his teenage years just like Miizotsu. He was the more kind and affectionate type, loved children and often cared for children while the alpha and beta were out, animal or demon didn't matter. He was just like that, which was why many members of the tribe adored him, especially Uzochiko's mother.

Ok, this Wolf Demon was a little weird, with that crazy looking grin on his face. One would have expected a Wolf Demon to be more serious, not acting like an excited little child. Honestly, that was just so out of the loop that it wasn't even funny. But if the demon was okay with that then let him be. He himself would feel humiliated if he had that happy-go-lucky look on his face all the time. He'd just look like a fool in other demon's eyes.

But, at least this cheery wolf didn't mind him there, unlike some others. Tough he didn't like being compared to a Bird Demon, those freaky birds were way below his limit. He could never be like them, that's just out of the question. And he had no reason to start a fight with the Wolf Demons, he was a loner afterall. Without a tribe, clan or whatever to back him up, declaring war would be a total suicide. Honestly, what could one lone demon do against a big Tribe like this? Nothing, really, unless he decided to give information to their enemies, which was a no-no. He had nothing against the Wolf Demons, and his honor wouldn't allow him to sink so low, as to leak info to someone else. So, to sum it up, he had no reason to cause them harm, though they didn't know that.

Then again, he was glad that Uzochiko stood up for him. That meant he was probably going to survive there. And it's been a long time since he had a friend. Actually there had been only one, and Shinryuu had no idea where the Bat Demon was now, and he doubted they'd ever meet again. Shinryuu travelled way too much, so the chance of an encounter was fairly low and he wasn't willing to set foot on the Bat Demon's territory. Bats and Dragons didn't like each other much, which meant that they'd probably try to kill him before he had a chance to explain. Back to present though, as the Wolf Demon's singy voice brought him from his memories.

It seemed that he was calling for someone else, and Uzochiko wasn't very happy about it, more like he was a bit pissed. Well, whatever it was, it wasn't good.

''Erm, can someone tell me what is going on?''

He was getting tired of staying completely quiet, and he was confused about the happenings. He just hoped the Wolf Demons wouldn't mind him asking.

"Hell is what's about to go on... For me..."

at that moment, Shuzuko sprinted over with the cwolf pelt and vest made from wolf fur. The vest of course was sleevess and was a perfect fit on Uzochiko. Shuzuko had a grin as well. He knew that tone of voice from Miizotsu, which ,meant that he got Uz-san and they could put the correct set of clothing on him.

"Finally we found him! Hahaha!"

He laughed victoriously, but he suddenly paused a few meters away to glance at the foreign demon. What was it doing here huh? Did Uzo-san bring a friend or perhaps was it breakfast already? Oh well, he was hoping for an explanation, even if he didn't mind the demon being there he was still curious about the situation, it could be an intruder or captive for all he knows.

"Oh... Hello, who might you be?"

"He's a friend of Uzo-san's, Shuzuko..."

"Ohhhh, okay, well.... I'm not in this, but what i am in is that we need to do the daily routine because 'somebody' won't accept the way to dress!"

They both stared at Uzochiko, ready to snatch him up and go change him into a different set of clothing, knowing that he won't do it himself and would probably burn the damn things.

Hell? So, he was right that this wasn't good. But what could...? Oh, another Wolf Demon came over, presumably the one that was called for, bringing some kind of a clothing set. Well, weird, whatever it was about. Though he remembered Uzochiko saying something about hating their formal attire, so perhaps, that was what's going on. The newcomer was, obviously interested in him, but Shinryuu didn't get to say anything as they answered for him. Oh, well.

It could be easily said that Uzochiko didn't want this to happen, and Shinryuu himself was getting bored of these grinny faces. He glanced directly at him with a look that said something like 'We can run for it if you want'. His eyebrow raised slighty in question.

Uzochiko was pouting at the moment, damn the both of them. He was always harassed by this problem, and he was getting sick and tired of it. He hated being the leader, gosh, how annoying it is. But too bad, he had to be it, he has no siblings. He looked towards Shinryuu, curious to how he was reacting to this. His expression included a mix between confused and realization, but it suddenly averted to a look that seemed to be giving them permission to make a run for it, so he seemingly figured out what was happening at the moment. As much as he wanted to take the chance, he didn't feel like making a break for it anymore, plus it'd be rude to do such a thing when introducing a visitor to the den.

He growled in his throat, he wanted to escape so bad while he could but he couldn't help but think of the bad things about that choice. Oh well, seems they got him this round, but next time he'll make it twice as hard. He snatched the clothing fiercely and grumbled as he began to tread towards a chamber at the back of the den, all the while motioning Shinryuu to follow close.

"... I'll do it myself..."

Shuzuko and Miizotsu were in a state of surprise, slightly aghast. They were shocked that for once, they didn't have to wrestle with Uzochiko to get the goddamn clothing on him, it was very rare for Uzochiko to give up and do it himself. Well, score one for them. With a smirk and snicker, they cheered victoriously on their accomplishment. Well, that's a thorn out of their back is it not. Soon after that, they were leaving the cavern, their purpose was to get wood and plan some sort of event the next day or night.

As the duo(Uzo and Shin) made their way through the den, a few more wolf demons caught sight of the foreign demon. They reacted differently, some growled, some gave him weird looks or suspicious/harsh stares, some only blinked, and very few yelled something out as a question, which Uzochiko ignored. Maybe he'll answer the questions later?

It looked like Uzochiko wasn't going to run afteralll. Well, too bad, Shinryuu would actually have enjoyed seeing the faces of the spectating Wolf Demons, if they made a break for it. Oh, well, but that was Uzochiko's choice, and if he wanted to stay then he was okay with it. Nah, the Wolf Demons were a complicated community that he had to say. Usually when someone was a leader, he should be able to say NO, but it seemed that the policy was a bit different here. Maybe because Uzochiko's dad was still alive, that'd make sense.

In the end, it appeared that Uzochiko decided to take the blasted attire, walking off towards a chamber. Shinryuu followed him, curious to see how it looked there, if anything else. He paced after him, trying to ignore the stares of the Wolf Demons that hadn't seen him up until now. Geeze, as if they haven't ever seen a demon of different species yet. Well, no matter. He caught up to his friend, now walking side to side with him, slighty studying his expression. Yeah, guess he was still a bit pissed. Poor him.

They finally reached the chamber entrance, his chamber entrance. To his private chamber. Yep, private. He wanted it, he wanted to be alone. Even though on occasion he allowed Miizotsu and Shuzuko sleep in there. Within the chamber there were three 'beds'. Not modern beds, oh hell no. This is feudal japan baby. They looked like mats, but they were thick and made of wolf fur. This made it rather comfortable to lay on, whoever made it must be a good weaver. As a cover, there was usually thick strips of cloth that covered a full grown male, in case it was chilly.

To the left of the room was wooden things, a bunch of wood. Laying on the ground was two carving knives made of stone. Usually, when he was bored and not disturbed, he'd carve out random things that he'd think was useful to him, even if he knew it'd take him a long time to make good things he still did it, he wasn't THAT lazy.

In the straight up middle of the room was a pit of sticks, where he'd usually light a fire when he stays up at night, or when it's too dark in there for him. To the right of the room was another entrance to somewhere else. this was a room that he made himself for seemingly no reason, none of the demons know why it was made as of yet.

It wasn't long before they reached their final destination. Shinryuu had to admit that this chamber looked quite nice, compared to the rest of what he'd seen. He could see three beds made of wolf fur, which looked quite comfy, even though they weren't exactly beds. Then, there was a lot of wood stuff, along with two knives. Shinryuu could only guess that it was supposed to be some carving equipment, as he could see some dents in the wood...and with the knives...well, let's just put two and two together.

Somewhere in the middle, there was a pile of sticks, probably for fire. Surprisingly, there was an entrance to another room, though he couldn't see inside, so there was no way of telling what was in there.

He looked around, scanning the room. He thought it was pretty plain as of yet, he wasn't really around a lot to make it look any nicer even though the others don't decorate theirs. He liked to make things look good and pretty, which was why he carved wood and everything, to see what his fingers would make. So he was awful flattered by the complement, was his room really nice? Oh, how he hoped it was. He tries.

Before you knew it, he began to ponder whether to visit the nearby spring and take a dip before getting his clothes on. The spring itself was rather large, and heated by an earthen volcano. But it was night time, so maybe tomorrow.

"You really think it's nice...? Thanks...

With that, he began towards the next room to change. He didn't think that the male accompanying him would want him to get his clothes changed in front of him. Not many would really like that and find it rather inappropriate. He might have.

Uzochiko seemed to be surprised at his words. Why though? Yeah, he didn't have very much in his room, but still it looked good. No need to think the opposite. But, he was also happy at the comment, so good.

''Sure I do.''

He replied with a smile, noticing that Uzochiko was heading towards the other room. Shinryuu decided to stay, as something was telling him that he shouldn't follow this time. Besides he wasn't sure what did Uzochiko want to do in that room. Perhaps something with the clothes, or get them on. Well, whatever it was, it didn't matter. Shinryuu leaned against the nearby wall, closed his eyes and waited.
